Indian mobile handset and consumer durable company Intex Technologies on Thursday signed a MoU with Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) to provide employment-linked skill training in mobile/IT products manufacturing to 2500 unemployed and underprivileged youth in Uttar Pradesh over three years.
In the first year, Intex plans to train over 500 youth within the age-group of 14-35 years at its Noida plants in assembly, testing, packing, sales, service and repair of mobile and IT devices.
For this programme, Intex Technologies will set up training centers in Noida, develop course modules, create awareness, mobilize the aspirants to undertake skill development training and find potential employers for providing placement opportunities for minimum 80% candidates upon successful completion of training, it said in a statement.
The MoU was signed and exchanged between minister for vocational education and skill development Abhishek Mishra, and Amitabh Khurana, Head-Manufacturing and Satyendra Mallik, Head-HR, Intex Technologies.
"The MoU signed today is aimed to create a pool of skilled manpower, uplifting individual development of the person and ultimately contributing to the overall economic development of the country," Malik said in a statement.
The project will be funded under Skill Development Initiative (SDI) of DGET/Aajeevika Skills/BoCW/SCA to SCSP/MsDP/BADP/SSDF.
