Idea Cellular has come up with yet another prepaid pack to counter competition from Reliance Jio. The telco will now be offering 70 GB of data and unlimited calls at Rs 396 which will have a validity of 70 days and 1 GB data cap per day, according to various media reports.
The data pack is only limited to 3G speeds and the unlimited calling is restricted to only other Idea numbers. The calls made to the other network have a limit of 3000 minutes for the entire duration of the validity period. This is further capped at 300 minutes a day and 1200 minutes a week.
It is interesting to note that the telco has not been promoting its recharge pack via SMSs and the customers have to check on their own whether the offer is valid for their mobile number.
Reliance Jio’s Rs 309 plan on the other hand (309 + 99 for non-Prime users) offers 1 GB 4G data daily with unlimited calling to any network. The validity of this plan is 84 days and it also offers free SMS benefits to the users.
Recently, Vodafone came out with its Ramzan special Rs 786 plan which offers 25 GB data and unlimited calling benefits to customers of select circles.
Idea Cellular recently became the third operator to provide pan-India 4G and therefore it is even more important for the telco to come up with disruptive 4G offers to retain and increase its subscriber-base.
