The reports says that, there are 39% of broadband band users use Reliance jio broadband connection. This will not be a good news for other telecom companies.
New entrant Reliance Jio Infocomm has became the country’s largest broadband service provider with 102 million connections contributing to 39% market share, sector regulator Trai in its recent finding said.
India’s broadband subscriptions including wireline and wireless connections has reached to 261.31 million in February, a 2.98% jump over previous month.
“Reliance Jio that offers 4G mobile services has accounted for 102.84 million (39.36%) broadband users,” the Trai report indicated.
Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio launched commercial services in September 2016 on a pure-play IP-based fourth generation (4G) network.
Rival Bharti Airtel, according to it had 46.69 million broadband connections which contributes to 17.87% of the market share.
UK-based Vodafone group’s Indian arm had a share of 12.27% with 32.06 million broadband customers, and Aditya Birla group’s Idea Cellular had 24.31 million users with 9.3% share.
State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), according to telecom watchdog had 20.81 million customers contributing 7.69%.
Other wired and mobile service providers together accounted for a 13.24% share with 34.6 million connections.
