Telenor India has launched multiple unlimited entertainment service packs, starting at Rs 2 comprising music and video streaming. The new pricing will allow subscribers to experience unlimited access to videos from sites like Hungama Music & Eros Now.
Amaresh Kumar, Chief Product Officer,Telenor India said, the company realised that entertainment is a primary driver of Internet traffic, with nearly 60% of data users accessing entertainment apps on their mobiles. "We want our customers to download and watch videos or listen to music in a hassle-free manner. Our new entertainment service packs have been designed to offer value for money access to unlimited music and videos without worrying about data volumes used," said the CPO of the Indian unit of Norway's Telenor.
At present, 22% of Telenor's subscribers use data services on their mobile devices and we expect this to grow to over 50% by 2017.
To subscribe the service, Telenor customers can select the video packs starting from Rs 2 to Rs 28 with validity ranging from one day to 28 days.
"Subscribers will also be able to use the new service pack to temporarily cache their favourite online video overnight (11 pm to 7 am) and have a buffer-free experience during periods of low connectivity," Telenor India in a media statement. To prevent any bill shocks if the caching continues after 7 am, the customers will be charged at 2p/20 KB with a cap of Rs 5 for that day.
The music packs offering unlimited access to music, start from Rs 41 and come with a validity of 28 days.
"Research shows that almost 40% of users watch videos at night as the networks are relatively free and speeds are better. With the new packs, customers can download videos during the night and watch it anytime & anywhere," said Kumar.
